Product configurators & CPQ development

Build the right configurator for your business.

From streamlined online product builders for growing businesses, to advanced CPQ systems for complex manufacturing.

React · Three.js · WebGL · Rules and pricing engines · ERP and CRM integration · REST and webhooks · Autodesk Inventor

  • Quotes assembled by hand, one at a time
  • Options and pricing only a few people fully understand
  • Customers who cannot see what is possible before they call

Three ways in

Three ways in. Two of them build something.

The first two differ by how complicated the product is, how much has to happen after somebody clicks quote, and which systems the answer has to reach. The third is not a build at all.

  • Configurable products, standard options

    Online Product Configurators

Let customers choose a product, explore the options, see an estimated price and send you a quote request that is already filled in.

    Suitable for

sheds, fencing, pergolas, cabinets, signs, garages, trailers, furniture, countertops, and similar configurable products

    How it works commercially

A one time build, with optional monthly maintenance.

  • Complex products, engineered options

    Advanced CPQ Development

Custom configuration, pricing, quoting, visualization and integration work for complex products and complicated sales processes.

    Capabilities

Configuration and rules engines, pricing and quoting, engineering and manufacturing, visualization, integrations

    How it works commercially

Custom project scope, with ongoing technical support.

Or, if it already exists

Fix a configurator you already have

Wrong prices, broken rules, failed integrations, slow builds, and projects that stopped short of finished. Diagnosis first, from a fixed price.

Working configurators

Open them. Change something.

These are working concept applications, built to demonstrate complete configuration systems. They are not videos, mockups or slide decks.

  • The Kestrel CPQ configurator: a six step progress bar from Size to Review, bench width options priced from included to plus $475 with the 72 inch option selected, a 3D preview of a blue steel workstation with a hardwood top, two three-drawer cabinets, a pegboard back panel and a monitor arm, and a summary panel listing the selected options and a running price breakdown.
    Concept build

    Kestrel CPQ

    Manufacturing workstation configurator

A complete configure, price, quote experience for an invented industrial workstation: engineering rules, live pricing, an interactive 3D model, quotation output and bill of material generation.

    • Ten engineering rules
    • Live price and 3D updates
    • Quote and BOM generation
  • The ForgeFlow factory floor designer: a module library on the left offering a straight belt, a roller conveyor and a 90 degree curved belt, a 3D floor plan in the centre with three conveyor sections joined into a line, and a selection panel on the right showing position, rotation and a system subtotal of $14,940 for three modules.
    Concept buildDesktop only

    ForgeFlow Conveyor CPQ

    Conveyor system configurator

A modular factory floor configurator that connects conveyor sections, infers the endpoints, validates drive direction and prices the assembled system as one line rather than as a list of parts.

    • Drag and connect layout
    • Connection and direction validation
    • System level pricing

How it works

Four steps, and you approve the first one in writing.

  1. 01

Understand the product and the sales process

What you make, how a customer chooses it, and how a price gets to them today. The scope, the deliverables and the number are agreed in writing before any work starts.

  2. 02

Define the configuration and pricing rules

Which options exist, which combinations are impossible, and the arithmetic that turns a choice into a figure. This is the part that decides whether the rest of it can be trusted.

  3. 03

    Design and build the experience

The interface, the outputs and the integrations, then tested against valid configurations, invalid ones and the systems around them.

  4. 04

    Launch, maintain and improve

Launch support and documentation written for the people who will live with it, so your own team can maintain it. Ongoing maintenance and support are available if you would rather I did.

Who does the work

One person, start to finish.

Kestrel Webworks is me, Ken. I scope the work, write the rules, build the configurator, connect it to the surrounding systems and test it. There is no account manager and no handoff to a junior, on either path.

  • 10+ years in enterprise configuration engineering
  • CPQ rules, pricing, integrations and product visualization
  • One technical owner from first message through handover

Ownership and infrastructure

Your configurator, your infrastructure, your data.

Every build gets its own environment rather than a slot in a shared one, and everything inside it belongs to you. I can run the technical side for as long as that is useful, and stop without taking anything with me.

  • Dedicated client infrastructure

Your configurator gets its own environment and its own storage. Your products, prices and enquiries are not sitting in a table alongside unrelated customers, which is what makes them straightforward to export, move or hand over.

  • You retain ownership

The domain, the source and project files, the product data, the customer and lead data and the branding are yours. Not licensed to you, not held on your behalf, and not conditional on staying a client.

  • I can run it, for as long as you want

Deployment, maintenance, backups, dependency updates, monitoring and small changes are available as an ongoing service. It is a service you buy rather than a dependency you inherit.

  • Built to be maintained, and transferable

If you later want to run it yourself, or hand it to your own developer, the whole thing goes with you: the code, the data, the environment and the documentation to pick it up.

Not sure which route fits your project?

Tell me what you sell, how customers choose it, and how you produce quotes today. Or tell me what the configurator you already have is doing wrong. I will tell you which of the three this is, and what it would take.
